Rainbow Preschool First Day of School
Our Programs

Nursery and Preschool – This program offers your child an easy transition from home to school. For children 2 and 3 years old who are toilet-trained, the program emphasizes socialization and building of vocabulary. Children who are English learners will adjust quickly to their new language, helped by our professional and caring multilingual staff. Children turning 4 will come away with a good feeling of what school is all about and will be ready for Universal PreK. Depending on your needs and expectations, you can choose a full-time or part-time (morning or afternoon) schedule. Registration for September generally starts in March and requires a deposit. But you can also register anytime during the year as long as space is available.
Universal PreK – The Rainbow UPK program is sponsored by the NYC Department of Education. The 2½-hour sessions are free for children who turn 4 during the calendar year that includes the month of September. For parents who need all-day child care, extended hours are available for a fee. Registration follows the Department of Education calendar, usually starting in early March for the upcoming school year.
After-School – This program is limited to students attending P.S. 12. At dismissal time, they are picked up by Rainbow staff for recreation, group time with specific themes, homework help, individual enrichment exercises, music and drama activities, and much more. When P.S. 12 is closed and Rainbow is open, full-day care is available.
Summer Camp – For parents who need a safe and reliable summer camp for their children, Rainbow offers an excellent program for students 2 to 7 years old, focusing on age-appropriate activities. The children enjoy special events including indoor shows and field trips, followed by related arts, crafts, reading, and writing activities. Registration begins in February. You can register for any or all of the 8 weeks, but it must be for a minimum of 3 consecutive weeks. A nonrefundable deposit is required to reserve a space.
Registration
- Tuition ranges from $350 to $800 a month, and the one-time registration fee for the year is $100 ($50 for after-school students). ACD and HRA vouchers are welcome.

If you are in the neighborhood, you are welcome to come and visit! With our open-door policy, you can tour the facility and classrooms during school hours at your convenience. No appointment is necessary, but the ideal time to see Rainbow children at work and play is between 9 a.m. and 12 noon. It is always enlivening to see our school in action, and experience what it means to be “Safe and Sound Under the Rainbow.”
At Rainbow Christian Preschool“Teaching with Love” has been our motto since 1987. Rainbow children learn and play in a modern, spacious facility featuring bright, well-equipped, air-conditioned classrooms, a full-size indoor gymnasium, and a state-of-the-art private outdoor playground. Our student body represents the many nationalities living in our little corner of northwestern Queens, which makes our school a true rainbow of many colors. |
